I would like to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day.  I hope you have a nice day with your families.  The stepping stones can go in your garden.  They are made of cement.

We have been working on ending sounds,  ABC, ABB, AAB patterns, graphs, simple addition, and the letter X.  Next week we take the NWEA test on Tues, Wed, Thurs. and Friday.  It is very important that your child is in school on these days for the test.  You will also see the progress reports.  Please not that I assessed for the beginning of kindergarten of next year so you could see where your child is at.  We have come a long way.  Keep up the good work.

We have sent  home the letters for the field trip to the zoo.  Please take a minute to read through them. We will be going to the zoo June 8th and we have limited space on the buses.

On June 3rd we have track and field day at the school.  The kindergarten classes compete against each other in relay races.  It is a fun day for all.  You are welcome to come and watch if you would like.  I need to have the young fives come in the morning that day, 8:30-11:15 am. instead of the afternoon so we can have fun with the other classes.

You can still send in the box tops to school.  The contest is finished but we will take them for next year.  Thanks for all your help with this project.

This week we have been working on the letter W, completing our unit on the ocean, addition, subtraction, oridinal numbers, and rhyming.  We will have Wacky Day tomorrow so come dressed up as crazy as ever.  This is our last fun day with the alphabet.  We will be doing NWEA teasting so please make sure that your child is in school.  Also on May 19, and 20th there will be no school for my class and kindergarten.  There will be kindergarten round up for the kids coming in.  My class does not need to do kindergarten roundup.


The final pick up of Box Tops and Labels for Education for the school contest will be Friday May 6th. You can still bring in labels for the remainder of the year but they will be applied to next year and will not be included in the contest this year.

Tomorrow we will be doing things for Earth Day.  I hope you all enjoy the Easter Holiday.  Next week we will be on the letter W.  This will be Wacky Day.  Your child can dress up as crazy as possible. Insideout, backwards, mixed matched, the crazier the better.

The WPCA Art Fair is coming up soon!! On Thursday, May 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, the gym will be filled with WPCA’s finest art. All-of-us Express is pleased to announce open auditions for our summer production -- Scheherazade:  Legend of the Arabian Nights. 

Auditions are open to all youth, ages 6-18 on Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21.  Auditions are held Thursday & Friday from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Saturday, 10 am to noon.  All auditions will take place at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (819 Abbot Road, East Lansing).

There will be an audition workshop on Monday, May 16, 6:30-8:30 pm.  The cost is $5/members and $10/non-members.

Well I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break.  We have been learning about money, spring, writing numbers, and ending sounds.  I am sending home the fourth quarter objectives and also the first quarter objectives for kindergarten.  Since I had only four I decided to get a head start on next year.  I am also sending home the sight words that they will be learning next year.  I hope this helps.

Sorry about last week, I had misplaced my password and I could not get in.  We have been learning about the letter T.  Last week we were on the letter S and had a stuff animal day.  We have also been learning about beginning sounds, graphing, and patterns.  Remember that we have no school tomorrow. 

Moms don't forget to go to the moms night out Friday, April first beginning at 6:30 at Applebee's on West Saginaw.  Appetizers at Applebee's.

We will be finishing out reading month by having an author of Night Noise, Brenda Roy, come and talk with the kids.  Also we are having a drop everything and read and write on Friday April 1st.

We have had a fun week on learning the letter R.  We are doing a Robot and Rabbit craft tomorrow.  We have been working on lower case letters, letter sounds, identifying and counting pennies. On Monday we are having the Artist back again and you can wear poka dots.  I still have their shirts that we did for this event.
Next Friday, March 18th will be S day.  The kids can bring a stuff animal to school.

We have had a fun week with Dr.Suess' Birthday and character day.  The kids had a fun time dressing up as their favorite character.  Thank you all for taking the time to come and talk to me at conferences.  We have made some great strides and am looking forward to making more.  I count it a privilege to be your child's teacher.  March is reading month and we have a lot of things planned for this month.  I will let you know as they come up. At the end of the month we will be having a day that is all around reading.

We have been learning about the Presidents, Lincoln and Washington, letter P, counting and writing numbers,  and coloring inside the lines.  Please make sure that you check you time for conferences.  If you have a conflict please let me know as soon as possible.  Just a reminder that we do not come to class on Thursday, but need to come in the morning next Friday, 8:00-11:10.  Please remember to take some time to read the decodable books with your child.

March is reading month.  On Friday your child can dress up as a favorite book character.  Have fun with this and remember it does not mean that you have to go and buy something.  Also please bring the book along with you that your character came from.

We have been working on our weather unit. The different kinds of weather and how the weather helps us.  We had a fun day for the 100th day of school and Valentines day.  Thanks to all that helped out with these two days. Next Friday we will have pj day for the letter P. Don't forget to stay home on Monday and have a great day off.  Next week conference slips will be going home.  Please make sure that you mark your calendar. 

March 1st starts the book fair.  Come out for a fun family night and see Fiddle D and play some games.

We have been working on our letter Q, writing numbers and counting to 10,  and graphing.  We have the 100th day of school tomorrow so the kids can dress up as 100 years old.  The Valentines party is on Monday.  Please remember to bring your Valentines and the kids will pass them out to each other during the last hour of school.

We have finished up our unit on Animals around the world which we talked about the different habitats.  We are working on out letter O.  Next week we are having 100th day of school on the 11th.  We would like to have the students dress up like old people.  We will have activities to go along with the 100th day.  Tomorrow is the last day of spirit week and you can be out of dress code. The snow days have been fun.
Feb.14th we will have a Valentines Party.  I am sending home the class list so if you would like to make valentines you can.
